Lionel Messi has reached a preliminary agreement to become the majority shareholder of the Spanish second-division football club Eldense. The proposed transaction involves the purchase of shares currently held by Grupo TH Soluciones.
The acquisition remains subject to standard legal and contractual procedures. This process includes the completion of due diligence and the receipt of formal authorization from the Spanish National Sports Council (CSD).
This move follows Messi’s previous acquisition of the Catalan club Cornella in April 2026. The 39-year-old currently plays for Inter Miami and recently retired from international football after Argentina’s 1-0 loss to Spain in the 2026 World Cup final.
Eldense is currently positioned 20th in La Liga 2, having secured two points from their opening four matches. The club recently parted ways with head coach Claudio Barragan.
