Celtic chief executive Michael Nicholson has publicly backed manager Martin O'Neill following a week of three consecutive defeats. Nicholson stated that the club will come together to support the 74-year-old manager after describing the recent results as a painful period for the team.

The recent run of losses includes two defeats against Rangers and a home loss to Ferencvaros in the Europa League. Following the 1-0 derby defeat to Rangers, O'Neill suggested that it might be time to wrap up his tenure at the club.

These results follow Celtic’s failure to reach the Champions League league phase, where the team lost a 4-0 aggregate lead against LASK in a play-off. The club recently reported a £4.8m loss and a revenue drop of nearly £33m, which was attributed in part to the missed qualification for the Champions League.
