Philadelphia Flyers vs Pittsburgh Penguins preview
The Philadelphia Flyers host the Pittsburgh Penguins on September 30, 2026, in a USA NHL regular-season opening-night matchup scheduled for 23:30 UTC at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. This contest marks the start of the 2026-27 campaign for both clubs, with the Penguins looking to rebound after being eliminated by the Flyers in the first round of the previous season's playoffs.
Philadelphia enters the game with a roster featuring a new-look power play unit, which includes Trevor Zegras, Matvei Michkov, Porter Martone, Tyson Foerster, and Jamie Drysdale. For Pittsburgh, the lineup faces an early challenge as Bryan Rust is set to open the season on injured reserve. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Erik Karlsson, and Rickard Rakell remain central figures for the Penguins as they begin their season in the same venue where their previous year concluded. In the United States, the game is available to watch on TNT, truTV, and HBO Max, while viewers in Canada can access the broadcast via Sportsnet+ Premium. Radio coverage is provided by 105.9 The X and 97.5 The Fanatic.
